Having fostered a relationship with children through Keystage 1, we feel it’s strongly advisable to build on the investment made at this age, rather than starting again.
The dog and cat are older siblings, but they could just as easily be grown up versions of the former. So long as the connection is utilised and promoted to establish continuity, maybe through eluding to ‘The Blue Crew’ in Keystage 1 literature in some way.

Basing this solution around the five key areas of Blue Cross – dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and small pets gives Blue Cross the onus to remain relevant across a variety of literature, without becoming ‘stale’. Should the need ever arise, additional characters could easily be introduced for specific animals without sacrificing the core branding and recognition of ‘The Blue Crew’.
